Teach Furbo Seafood Bar & Restaurant

A relaxed bite along the Wild Atlantic Way

A plate with a golden-brown chicken Kiev served alongside steamed vegetables and a mound of mashed potatoes, garnished with fresh herbs.Elegant bar with Irish gin and vibrant cocktail on display, offering a stylish hotel experience.

Teach Furbo is our seafood bar and restaurant at the Connemara Coast Hotel, set along the Wild Atlantic Way, a short drive from Galway city. Relaxed and informal, it’s open to hotel guests and locals alike, with views stretching across Galway Bay to the Burren in County Clare. Irish is the main language spoken here, so don’t be surprised to hear a cúpla focal.

The menu reflects the seasons and our coastal setting, with daily specials built around the catch of the day. Our ingredients are locally sourced, from fresh Galway Bay mussels to Atlantic hake. You’ll also find traditional pub classics, like a hearty seafood chowder served with homemade brown bread, or the Teach Furbo ‘Spice Bag’, our coastal take on the classic. Finish with one of our desserts, or a taste of something local from Micil Distillery just up the road in Connemara.

The Day Bar Menu is available every day from 12–5pm, with an evening menu from 6–9pm. Walk-ins are welcome.

Teach Furbo is steeped in the history of the Irish music scene. From the 1960s through the early 1980s, this was one of the most famous music venues in the country. Music promoter and publican Bill Fuller bought and developed the property into a great music house, and the hall was packed week in, week out with the big acts of the day. Some of Ireland’s finest performers of the last half-century played here, Paddy Cole, The Dubliners, Christy Moore and Planxty among them, drawing crowds from far and wide to the famed, smoke-filled room. That hall is today our function room, the Aran Suite, and the Teach Furbo name now belongs to our bar: traditional, rustic, and still a place where music and good company come together.
