Explore Galway City & County

Explore Furbo

Furbo is more a town-land than a village located between Barna and Spiddal, only 10 minutes drive from Salthill in Galway city. The area is a typical Gaeltacht style of settlement with no village street or centre, but even though it is only a short distance from Galway city it has managed to maintain its rural nature quite successfully in recent years due to strong opposition to large scale development.  As a result the spectacular views of Galway Bay, the Burren and the Aran Islands has remained un-obscured in Furbo and this adds to its attraction and charm.

It is this charm and uniqueness that makes the location of the Connemara Coast Hotel both breath-taking and relaxing.

Explore Connemara

Connemara is one of the most scenic areas in Ireland and stretches from Galway up into Mayo.  There are a vast number of driving, walking and cycling routes throughout the region and it would take weeks to truly explore all of Connemara but there are many one day routes that can be taken from the Connemara Coast Hotel to give you a true sense of the beauty of Connemara.  These routes include a visit to Kylemore Abbey and its gardens, the landing place of Alock and Brown in Clifden, the only Fjord in Ireland in Killary and the location for films such as The Quiet Man and The Field.
